Summer hits may be last season, but for Singer-song writer Catey Shaw. Fall brought on the chance for a new sound to a past tune.  This summer Shaw released an electro-pop song called “Lovesick Jerk” and has now released an acoustic version, which can be heard below.

Fashion and Culture publication Out Magazine, praise Shaw’s songwriting abilities, saying that “her songwriting is poppy but incisive, her voice is downright mellifluous.” Shaw first gained notoriety amount music lovers in 2014, with her track “Brooklyn Girls” which was then followed by an equally popular “Human Contact.” Her electro-pop indie sound has been mentioned on numerous blogs and she even performed on the CBS The Queen Latifah Show in 2013. The Huffington Post praises Shaw as an artist, saying that she “proves she’s not a hipster gimmick, but an artist to be taken seriously.” Famous Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, goes on to say that she is this generations Lily Allen; an English pop/electro-pop recording artist.

Shaw did what many songwriters do best, draw from personal experiences. Her single is a song about the ways you fall in love with someone and then wonder where that love went a few months in. “The great thing about recording an acoustic version of a song is the way it breaks down to bare bones,” Shaw said. That is what made her summer track the perfect candidate for such a stripped down – raw treatment. For according to Shaw “the fun presentation of it doesn’t necessarily lend to the harsh content, so it’s nice to kind of isolate that sentiment.”

“Lovesick Jerk” can be heard on Shaw’s new EP The Ransom, which is her third release and is already in stores.  For more information on Catey Shaws music and her previous EP releases; please feel free to visit  https://www.facebook.com/cateyshawmusic
